Job interviews


A job interview can become something very nerve-racking when you’re not mentally and psychologically prepared. But there is nothing to worry about, the whole thing is just a matter of confidence; you must be totally confident about yourself, and you must assert that you’re a great professional who is prepared to meet any challenge (even if you haven’t had a lot of experience, even if you’ve been only doing freelance jobs, or if you’ve done simple jobs where the responsibility wasn’t too high.) The key is to present yourself as a serious, trustworthy and empathetic person in front of the interviewer.

Typically there will be some questions that the interviewer will ask as a way to know the type of person and professional that you are. Such questions are always about your personality, your past job experiences, and your job expectations. You can prepare some answers for possible interview questions because that may raise your confidence; even though it can be counterproductive as it may get your nervous if you realize that you’ve forgotten the answer.

Some questions about your personality may be related to how you deal with situations. Your interviewer wants to know how capable you are of motivating yourself as well as motivating your co-workers; he/she may want to know if you can handle certain types of situations or if you can work under pressure. How well you can adapt to a new work environment is also considered. Questions about past job experiences must be answered carefully because you do not want to give the wrong impression to your employee. In case you’ve been dismissed from a previous job, it is better to talk about it delicately or avoid it if it’s possible. For questions about job expectations; it is important to do some research about the company. Investigate the company’s identity, philosophy and values. Read what they expect from a person who wants to apply for a determined job position.  Be honest about your skills and accomplishments; do not make up a completely different character just to get the job.

Do not feel intimidated by the interviewer; even if his/her attitude is not too friendly. Treat him/her with the proper respect, but not as if he was an unreachable person. Naturally, using any kind of slang is not appreciated; so try to avoid using colloquial language. Confidence, preparation and a good attitude are the key to a good interview.
