University of Limerick (Kemmy Business School)

It gives me particular pleasure to welcome you to the Kemmy Business School, home to over 2,500 students, 100 faculty and staff spread across four departments, research centres, three programme delivery units and the Graduate Centre of Business.

The School is named after the late Jim Kemmy, local historian and politician, former Alderman and Mayor of the City of Limerick. Jim was a quintessentially Limerick person, dedicated to improving the lot of his fellow citizens, champion of the underclass and a man with high principles. The commitment of the KBS to excellence in teaching and research and to developing effective programmes for the extended business and wider community is consistent with the emphasis that Jim Kemmy placed on education as a means to improving employability and reducing involuntary emigration.

Our portfolio of undergraduate programmes includes the highly regarded and largest degree in UL - the BBS programme, a number of joint degrees with other colleges of the University, and some dedicated programmes in management for health services professionals, corporate clients in the public and private sectors and open access programmes delivered on-campus or at selected outreach centres. Partnerships with key external 'clients' such as the Revenue Commissioners, Guidant Corporation and ESB International illustrate the innovative manner in which the School is engaging with the business community to deliver programmes to meet their needs.

Our postgraduate programmes are geared to meeting the needs of practicing managers and professionals in the public and private sectors in addition to the provision of niche programmes for recent and experienced graduates in such fields as entrepreneurship, financial services, human resource management and international tourism.
